  • MODEL HISTORY

    Model History

Since its introduction in 1994, the Mercedes C-Class Estate has become one of the company’s top selling models. It has also become an important player in the compact executive estate segment, so they took great care in creating the all new W205 Mercedes C-Class Estate. The new car had imposing bodywork, wrapped around a structure that was longer and wider than the previous model. This gave the 4th generation C-Class Estate more passenger and cargo room. And, the build quality and amenities made it feel like a real Baby Benz. But AMG was about to take this competent estate car to a whole different level.

The estate car business runs on numbers, and the W205 Mercedes C63 AMG Estate puts up some impressive digits. To start, it has 490L of boot space behind the rear seats, and 1510L with the seats folded. It has room for 5 humans and the transmission has 7 forward gears. Under the bonnet is an engine that has 2 turbos and 8 cylinders that displaces 4.0 litres (the 6.3 name is merely a homage to the legendary Mercedes 300SEL 6.3). This power plant is handmade by a single person in AMG’s factory, and it’s tuned to produce 476 bhp. If you opt for a car with the AMG S Pack, that number increases to 510 bhp. There’s also a 4WD version called the Mercedes C 450 AMG 4MATIC, which uses a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 to produce 367 bhp. This turbo wagon can hustle to 100 kph in just 5.0 seconds, which is nearly a second behind the V8 powered C63 (4.2) and C63 AMG S (4.1).

Of course, there are more “normal” versions of the W205 C-Class Estate, including the environmentally friendly Mercedes C180 BlueTEC Estate, that emits just 112g CO2/km. The Mercedes C300 BlueTEC HYBRID uses an innovative diesel hybrid system to deliver combined fuel economy of 3.8L / 100km. It also allows you to remotely activate the climate control, so your thrifty C-Class Estate will be the perfect temperature when you get in. And when you add the optional AIRMATIC air suspension, this compact executive wagon becomes a competent handler too.
