Following on from the German carmaker's reveal of the 2018 CLS model last month at the LA Auto Show in November, Mercedes-Benz has now confirmed UK prices and specification.

The third-generaton model features subtle exterior upgrades including a new diamond-studded grille. The CLS will be offered with three all-wheel drive powertrain options, including two diesel options.

The all-new for 2018 CLS will start at £57,510, the base model being a CLS 50d 4MATIC AMG Line, alternatively for just shy of an extra £3000, you could opt for the CLS 400d 4MATIC AMG Line (£60,410). Both the 350d and 400d variants feature new in-line six-cylinder diesel engines. The 350d produces 286bhp and 600Nm of torque - capable of 0-62ph in 5.7 seconds; the 350d produces 340bhp and 700Nm of torque, trimming 0.7seconds off the 0-62mph time. Both cars will be electronically limited to 155mph.

The top of the range model, the CLS 450 4MATIC AMG Line is powered by a 3.0 litre six-cylinder bi-turbo petrol engine  - capable of 0-62 in 4.8 seconds thanks to 367bhp and 500Nm and will set you back £67,610. The CLS 450 powertrain features new EQ boost technology with a 48V starter generator to provide increased power (22bhp /250Nm) over short periods.

“In line with our hot & cool design philosophy, we have reduced its DNA to an extremely puristic level while emotionally charging it with an almost erotic beauty," says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Daimler AG.
