  • MODEL HISTORY

    Model History

Mercedes-Benz spent 7 years developing the entry level W202 C-Class saloon, and it took an additional 3 years to work out the estate version. This resulted in a compact executive estate that was far more useful than its competitors from BMW or Audi. The boot shape, for example, features a more conventional in-shape than its slanted aero-focused equivalents. This allows the Mercedes W202T estate to be one of the best lifestyle executive estates on the market. Simply swing open the boot door and you’ll find plenty of room for your mountain bike, dogs, luggage, or flat pack furniture from IKEA.

The W202T Mercedes C-Class Estate is a product of Stuttgart’s obsessively over-engineered philosophy. The body structure is designed to absorb the energy of a crash, and it uses advanced crumple zones that are reinforced with high-strength steel. Occupants are further protected with dual front airbags, side airbags, seat belt retractors and ABS. The W202T was the first Mercedes to be fitted with a common-rail injected turbodiesel (CDI). There was also a raft of built-in convenience features too. For example, the middle rear headrest in the backseat can be removed and stored in the boot, using specially designed mounting holes which locate the headrest out of the way of cargo. This improves rear visibility when the backseat is not in use, and prevents you from losing the headrest. Thoughtful details like these show Mercedes’ attention to detail, and reinforces the C-Class Estate’s position as one of the best on the market.
